acupuncture crop circleAcupuncture is the ancient Chinese practice of inserting needles in specific points on the body to manipulate the flow of energy or Qi. Acupuncturists believe that illness occurs when somethings blocks or unbalances your chi. Acupuncture is a way to unblock or influence chi and helps it flow back into balance. Sometimes heat, pressure,  or mild electrical current is used along with needles. The needles used are fine and flexible, causing little or no sensation.
Electroacupuncture and traditional acupuncture are quite similar.  Both use the same strategic points on the body.  After the traditional acupuncture needles are inserted a device is connected to specific needles using small clips.  The device sends a slight electric pulse into the area being treated.  The frequency and intensity can be adjusted depending on the condition being treated. Multiple spots may be stimulated during a treatment.  The treatment lasts around 30 minutes.A similar technique call transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), uses pads taped to the surface of the skin rather then the use of needles.  TENS can be useful in situations where the patient is afraid of needles or conditions that prevent needling. Electroacupuncture should not be used in cases where there is history of seizures, epilepsy, heart disease, stroke, or patients with pace makers. The head, throat, and directly over the heart should not be used for connection points for the electric pulse. Electroacupuncture stimulates the flow of qi, when it becomes accumulated as in cases of chronic pain.

cupping crop circleFire cupping therapy is a treatment that uses glass jars in which the air inside is heated, creating a vacuum, and then applied to the skin.  The skin and superficial layer of muscle are drawn into the mouth of the jar, which opens the pores, and promotes the flow of blood and qi.  Oils may be applied to the skin prior to application of the jars to facilitate their movement in a technique known as “gliding cupping”.  In gliding cupping the jars are moved around the fleshy areas of the body for a massaging effect.  The jars are then left in strategic areas for 5 to 15 minutes. To remove the jars th skin next to the mouth of the jar is depressed allowing air back into the jar. Fire cupping therapy should be avoided is the skin is inflamed, in cases of high fever, cramping or convulsions, or in conditions of easy bleeding.  It should also be avoided in the abdomen or lower back during pregnancy.
Cupping can be used to treat:
  • Respiratory Diseases; such as chronic bronchitis or asthma
  • Digestive Diseases; such as dysentery, early morning diarrhea, acute and chronic gastritis
  • Pain Management; such as headaches, pain in the shoulder and loins, toothaches, and soft tissue injuries.
  • Gynecological Disorders; such as infertility, irregular menstruation, leukorrhea, and uterine cramping.
  • Also the common cold, insomnia, and facial paralysis

acupressure crop circleAcupressure uses pressure points and meridians. When these acupressure points are stimulated, they release muscular tension, promote circulation of blood, and enhance the body’s life force energy to aid healing. It can be used to relieve pain, detoxify the body for greater health and beauty, and tone facial and back muscles. It can also be stimulated to increase energy and feelings of well-being, reduce stress, and stimulate the immune system.

foot reflex crop circleFoot reflexology is based on nerve zones or reflex points that go from the bottom of our feet to the top of our head, encompassing all the vital organs along the way. A trained reflexologist can put pressure on different meridians or energy lines on the sole and side of the feet to determine the cause of illness.
Foot reflexology is good for stimulating internal organs and improving blood and lymph circulation. It can also help alleviate headaches, asthma, tension, constipation, and sinusitis.
